Photoshop Introduction

Crop Tool- A tool to resize your image & make it smaller.
Lasso Tool- A tool to select a specific part of the photo & make a shape into it.
Text Tool- A tool to insert text on your photo.
To undo a mistake you made you just press "Command-Z" or "CTRL-Z".
To undo more than on action just pull up the "History Palette. You can do this by clicking Window--> History Menu.
To rotate an image just go to the image menu & select image resolution.
If you don't like your initial cropping box you drew, you can press --> ESC to cancel the crop.
When you enter dimensions as you crop, you're telling photoshop which dimensions the image should result in after you crop, The crop box will be forced into a certain ratio.
Newspapers & Newsletters are likely to have resolutions in the range 150 to 200 ppi, & magazines are likely to have high resolution of 250 ppi or more.

Shot on the Wednesday evening after Hurricane Sandy hit, Iwan Baan’s photograph of Manhattan, half aglow and half dark, captured the larger story of a powerful city rendered powerless. A true viral phenomenon, the image became an instant icon of the event—magazine cover that many New Yorkers have saved for posterity. In fact, a poster version was offered for sale by the Museum of Modern Art. 


Magazine Essential Parts

Barcode - The normal barcode used by retailers.
Cover lines - Short statements found on the magazine that describes the articles inside.
Dateline - The month & year the magazine was published, most of the times with the price.
Left Third - On the left bottom, it shows vital sales in shops.
Main Cover line - Short phases on the cover describing something major inside.
Main Image - The main image on the front cover, big enough to fit the page.
Masthead (logo) - The title of a Magazine at the head of the front page.
Model Credit: - The photographer or mode credit, person who took the image.
Selling line - A short description of the main marketing point.
