Semester Final Exam Part 2 & 3

Caption Writing:
On Dec. 2, A man named Dave was reported dead in his car after he got shot 2 times, once in his head & the other was on his shoulder.

On March 15, A man gets caught on fire during a small town festival.

On April 19, A group of men in a helicopter transport a gigantic rhino back to his home place, Africa, after being rescued.

Photo Composition:
This photo captures 8 bicycle riders in action during a race, the main focus is on them. The background is plain & simple, nothing else is involve in the photo. This photographer used simplicity & framing.

This photo involves a women walking through a maze of grass & trees. The main subject is her & the nature around her. This is a good use of framing.

This photo is a perfect example of balancing elements because the moon, along with the olympic circles above it, all balance out with each other. There's no avoidance of something or leading lines, it's just all mixed in well together.

The photo is of a man, giving a speech to a crowd, & the photographer is in the crowd & is at a different angle or view point of how they see him. There's not much going on in the photo, it's pretty simple, so it has to be simplicity because nothing else is in it, it's just one main subject.

Self Portraits & Portraits Preview

Tips-
1. My last tip is to use the images below only loosely as inspiration. A self-portrait should be a very personal expression, not simply a mirror of something you've seen elsewhere. Think about who you want to be and how you want to say that. Use props, scenery, pose and lighting conditions to convey your personality. And most of all, have fun!
2. On the other hand, shooting self portraits can be invaluable because you learn how to direct people for better portraits. What? I mean, that as you walk yourself through a portrait (of yourself) you gain insight in how to explain to people how to pose (you learn how to pose). The best way to direct people is to show them what you want and if you can do it for a self portrait, you can show your subject how to pose for you.
3. Use your imagination! A self-portrait can reveal a lot about you, by including props and even other people that are meaningful in your life. If you've never attempted to shoot a self-portrait, expand your creative horizons and give it a try.

I like this photo because her outfit is cute & the way she posed. I picked it because it's black & white, & I like how the picture came out.

I really like this photo because it's a couple kissing & I love photos like this, I think its so romantic. I also like how they're in the water & the background just fits in perfectly with it. I picked it because the flow of the photo makes it stand out & caught my eye.

I like how this photo is of a married couple & they're in some type of grass, & nobody takes pictures in that setting so its unique how they captured it. I picked this photo because the photo is taking outside & I adore pictures outside with nature.

I like this photo because they're in various poses & have different, unique outfits.
I picked it because the colors are bright & pops out.

I like this photo because the background looks so beautiful & they look so happy. I picked this photo because it symbolizes love with a touch of nature.

I like this photo because it's of a brother & sister bonding & it looks so cute. I picked this photo because it's of little children & I adore children.

I like this photo because the way it looks, how the stick figure is painted as a man & someones hand is giving the girl the flowers. I picked this photo because it stood out to me & her dress color make the photo pop out.
I like this photo because her hair is holding in place & her expression on her face. Also her makeup is really good. I picked this photo because it's only her & the main focus is on her.

My plan for my portrait assignment will be of myself, or my nephew maybe, the setting would be outside, in the grass with nature all around, & I will make my shot successful by making the photo symbolize something I love & had meaning in it. Somehow I want it to be unique & beautiful.

The Three Pillars Of Exposure

Aperture:

2. The smaller the aperture, the more light comes through & the higher the aperture, the less light comes through.
3. The less light, the less chance for the background to be sharp.

Shutter Speed:

A. Fast
B. Medium
C. Slow
D. Medium

"Auto Mode" is when it automatically shoots in both shutter sound & aperture.
"Shutter Priority" sets the camera to shutter speed & the camera automatically chooses the aperture itself.
"Manual" sets the camera in both shutter speed & aperture manually.

Quick Write

My Superhero would have the power to freeze time, to explode things & to control things with her mind. Her outfit would be what a normal person would wear everyday, she hides her identity from everybody because she hasn't accepted her true self yet..

My room

My room is small, & pretty simple. My walls are turquoise, which is my favorite color w/ a queen bed by the wall, & a tall lamp shining against the wall.

Great Black & White Photographers Part 3

What caught my eye was that he took pictures of women posing, some were nude, other weren't. I didn't see any other photographer do what he did with his photos.

In the photos i chose, they're just objects, & I see: still plain objects, a dice, a seashell, a yellow long triangle, & a ball that looks like a marble. Then in the back theres a painting of a boat in the water. The beautiful clear blue sky. Looks so peaceful & unordinary but cool at the same time.
I smell: the fresh breeze against my face as I walk on the beach. The moist sand in my toes as i walk. Also the dogs odor as they run right past me. I hear: Other people screaming & laughing together. The waves splashing against the shore. Dogs barking & the ocean as I pick up a seashell & put in against my ear. I taste: the cold water as I drink my beverage on this sunny day.
I feel: the sand rubbing against my feet, & the seashells I pick up. The wind blowing, the water splashing on my skin. Fun, peaceful, & relaxed as a sit back & enjoy this summer day.
The next photo, is pretty plain. In this photo I see: an egg, balancing on a triangle with another triangle intercepting it. A light reflecting on it as it stands still. It's black & white, there's shading involve. I smell: nothing really. I taste: nothing. I feel that the egg is going to fall or crack at any minute because the triangle thats holding is pointy. Its so different from other pictures I've seen, like what made him take a picture like that?
I would like to create a power point of his famous work & his purpose of taking pictures of other women, what they symbolizes to him.

Mural Project

I would like the subject to be of Nature & all the beautiful things outside that make-up this world. Pictures can be found outside and/or the internet. I hope the outcome will be the way others see nature & how calm & free it is to be outside.

Quick Write

I like the photos on yahoo better than the black & white ones because the animals are in action. The main focus is the animals & it shows that with the color. This one is really good how they captures the turtle under water.

Mural Project Preview

1. What theme could you use here at school to make your own mural that tells a unique Akins story? The varsity football players, how much they have accomplished, & now they're going to graduate.

2. Why is this theme worth devoting  time and effort to capture? Why would other students care about this theme?
They would care because it's the last far they're here so capture the good moments & share with others.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using a phone camera to do this project?
The advantages are its more easier to carry & to use. The disadvantages are you can't get the things you want to capture, the quality isn't as good.

4. What are the advantages and disadvantages to using an SLR camera to do this project?
The advantages for using a SLR camera is they take better pictures that a regular phone. The disadvantages are the lighting, there cane too much.

5. Should we use phones or SLR cameras for this project? Why? I think that we should use SLR cameras because they take photos more clear & compared to our phones, we have poor quality.

Powerpoint Reflection

I think that Brandt has amazing skills, they way he captures wild life animals in action, it catches your attention.

This is my favorite picture, I like how the cheetah is just chilling on the tree, looking out, it looks so good.
Cheetahs are my favorite wild life animals. The rules of photography is the rule of thirds. He uses a Pentax 6711 with only 2 fixed lenses. His reason for taking this pictures was because he fell in love with the animals & the land of East Africa. His hope was to capture these animals is a way nobody else could.
Quote"My images are unashamedly idyllic and romantic, a kind of enchanted Africa. They're my elegy to a world that is steadily, tragically vanishing." ~ Nick Brandt

Academics Photo Shoot

                                                                        The Story

I see younger adults helping older adults that are in need of food. They took the time to help others who can't afford their supplies. I think the story is helping others in need,  & sharing/giving them some of what they got for them, the homeless.

Action & Emotion
In the Picture I see their faces & expressions on how they reacted to their experiment, & the water in mid air looks really cool.

Filling The Frame
This frame is filled with other people doing different things & no blank spots, they are all doing something something different in the back.

Academics & Community Service

I chose this photo because he's mixing two chemicals together & the outcome is purple which caught my attention.
The rules of photography are Balance & Simplicity.

1. Where do you think you could take photos like the ones you see today?
Outside, Chemistry & Halls.
2. Whose classroom would you like to visit & take photos in?
Ms. Morell, Ms. Briseno, & Ms. Larkin.
3. What will you do, as the photography, to get amazing photos like you look at today?
By standing, or laying on the ground in order to get a good angle.
